Health care Pelosi style…It’s good for you but NOT for ME

I know if you write about politics you are supposed to have a thick skin and say things like ” I have seen it all before” and ” Nothing surprises me in this town” ( add town name). Sometimes though, you just have to sit and and scratch you head and say Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Yesterday I listened in on a bloggers conference call that was led by Chief Deputy Republican Whip ,Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) about everyone’s hot topic right now health care. I listened intently as the representatives spoke and bloggers were allowed to ask questions of the elected officials on the call. While there were many different aspects of the health care bill discussed during the call that I found interesting, one item talked about stood out to me. H RES 615.

What is H RES 615 you ask?

H RES 615 is the sense of the house resolution proposed by Rep John Fleming ( R-LA) which states that any house member who votes for the health care bill that the President and the Speaker of the house want to shove down our throats, should have to participate in the very same plan. Rep Fleming stated on the call that he felt it would only be fair that the people who write the laws ,would have to live under those same laws.

Here is how it is explained on REP Flemings web site……

Under the current draft of the Democrat healthcare legislation, members of Congress are curiously exempt from the government-run health care option, keeping their existing health plans and services on Capitol Hill. If Members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way. Public servants should always be accountable and responsible for what they are advocating.

Together we will work to ensure that any plan that is good enough is for American families is good enough for every member of Congress.

That seems only fair I thought, if we have to wait in long lines and have our choices taken away, so should the people who passed this along to us. I’m sure that every person in the House of Representatives would sign on to this resolution right?

Maybe not.

Currently there are 53 co-sponsors of this sense of the House resolution to make this Pelosi health care bill the health care plan of choice for our elected representatives. Oddly enough though, Speaker Pelosi has not signed on to this resolution.

Neither has Majority Whip Steny Hoyer.

In fact ,of the 53 members of the House of Representatives who have decided to join Rep. John Fleming in supporting this resolution, not one of them is a democrat. Not One. You would think that at least one of the 256 sitting democrats in the House of Representatives ONE of them is willing to have the same rules applied to them as they would have forced on to you.

I urge everyone to call your Representative and ask them to sign on to this resolution. If they don’t want to find out why not. Also tell your friends and neighbors about the democrats not wanting to be part of their own health care plan.

As the President said ” Were all in this together!!!”

Unless of course you have a ” D ” after your name
