Obama’s Deeply Troubled Relationship with the Truth Continues

Obama’s deeply troubled relationship with the truth continues. One of many recent examples concerns the desire of some politicians to fine Americans who don’t purchase health insurance. On September 20th, Obama said that this isn’t a tax: it’s “absolutely not a tax increase… don’t call it a tax.” This is despite the fine being written into the Internal Revenue Code (our nation’s tax code), enforced by the IRS (our nation’s tax collection agency), and despite it being explicitly called a tax in various bills, such as the one authored by Senator Max Baucus (D-MT): “the consequence for not maintaining health insurance would be an excise tax.” No doubt Obama will continue to state many blatantly obvious untruths, simply because he chooses to adhere to philosophical beliefs that are far out of alignment with reality.
